Interventions Based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for Stress Reduction in Children and Adolescents: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials
Overview
This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluates the effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) interventions for reducing stress in children, adolescents, and young adults up to age 18. The authors analyzed eight randomized controlled trials involving 976 participants, finding a significant main effect favoring ACT over control conditions. While the study suggests ACT may be effective for this demographic, it notes that methodological limitations and publication bias restrict the strength of these conclusions.
