Feasibility and preliminary effectiveness of mindfulness-based stress reduction program on patients with nocturnal hypertension: a pilot randomized controlled trial
Overview
This pilot randomized controlled trial evaluates the feasibility and preliminary effectiveness of mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) for managing nocturnal hypertension in a Chinese population. The study reports high recruitment and retention rates, along with significant reductions in nocturnal systolic blood pressure among participants receiving MBSR compared to usual care. It also assesses secondary outcomes such as mood, sleep quality, and mindfulness levels, noting that while the intervention was acceptable, some monitoring devices disrupted sleep for a minority of patients.
