Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy in COPD: a cluster randomised controlled trial
Overview
This cluster randomized controlled trial evaluates Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) as an adjunct to standard pulmonary rehabilitation for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease experiencing psychological distress. The study compares an 8-week group MBCT program against standard care alone, measuring outcomes using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale and the COPD Assessment Test at multiple intervals. Results indicate a statistically significant reduction in psychological distress for the MBCT group, while improvements in physical health status did not reach statistical significance.
