A PILOT STUDY OF GROUP MINDFULNESS-BASED COGNITIVE THERAPY (MBCT) FOR COMBAT VETERANS WITH POSTTRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER (PTSD)
Overview
This pilot study examines the feasibility, acceptability, and clinical outcomes of an eight-week group mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) intervention adapted for combat veterans with chronic PTSD. The research compares this modified MBCT program against a brief treatment-as-usual control group among patients at a VA outpatient clinic. Results indicate significant improvements in PTSD symptom severity and relevant cognitions for MBCT participants, suggesting the approach may be an acceptable adjunctive therapy.
