Compassion: a scoping review of the healthcare literature
Overview
This scoping review maps 25 years of literature on clinical compassion, analyzing 44 studies from a larger pool of over 36,000 records. It identifies six key themes regarding perceptions of compassion and notes that fewer than one-third of included studies involved patient perspectives. The resource highlights gaps in empirical understanding and the need for more research incorporating patient voices to improve outcomes.
