Changes in depression and anxiety through mindfulness group therapy in Japan: the role of mindfulness and self-compassion as possible mediators
Overview
This study investigates an 8-week mindfulness group therapy program for individuals with depression and anxiety in Japan, examining changes in outcomes and potential mediators like self-compassion. The research involved 16 participants assessed at pre-intervention, post-intervention, and a two-month follow-up using questionnaires measuring mood, mindfulness facets, and behavioral systems. Results indicated significant reductions in depression and anxiety alongside increases in specific mindfulness facets and self-compassion, which correlated with symptom improvement.
