Behavioral Activation and Mindfulness Interventions in Reducing Loneliness and Improving Well-Being in Older Adults
Overview
This randomized clinical trial examines the long-term effects of telephone-delivered behavioral activation and mindfulness interventions on loneliness in older adults living in poverty. The study compares these brief, lay counselor-led programs against a befriending control group over a 12-month period. It reports sustained reductions in loneliness and improvements in well-being, noting that social isolation partially mediates these outcomes.
