ACTonFood. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy-Based Group Treatment Compared to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy-Based Group Treatment for Weight Loss Maintenance: An Individually Randomized Group Treatment Trial
Overview
This randomized trial compares Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) group interventions for weight loss maintenance in adults with obesity. The study assesses psychological outcomes and weight retention at discharge and six-month follow-up, noting that ACT participants showed significant improvements in weight maintenance and psychological well-being over time compared to CBT. Moderation effects for gender and eating disorder status are also reported.
