A randomized clinical trial for women with vulvodynia: Cognitive-behavioral therapy vs. supportive psychotherapy
Overview
This randomized clinical trial compares the efficacy of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and supportive psychotherapy for women with vulvodynia. The study reports that both treatments led to significant pain reduction, but CBT resulted in greater improvements in pain severity during examination and sexual function compared to supportive psychotherapy. Participants receiving CBT also reported higher treatment satisfaction and credibility, with benefits maintained at one-year follow-up.
