The Effectiveness of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy on Iranian Female Adolescents Suffering From Social Anxiety
Overview
This study investigates the impact of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) on social anxiety symptoms and self-esteem in 30 female Iranian adolescents diagnosed with social anxiety disorder. Participants were randomly assigned to either an experimental group receiving eight MBCT sessions or a control group, with outcomes measured using standardized pre- and post-treatment scales. The authors report that the intervention group showed statistically significant improvements in both reduced anxiety and increased self-esteem compared to the control group.
