The Effect of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) on Increasing the Self-Compassion, Distress Tolerance, and Emotion Regulation in Students with Social Anxiety Disorder
Overview
This semi-experimental study examines the impact of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy on female secondary school students diagnosed with social anxiety disorder in Tehran. The research compares an experimental group receiving eight therapy sessions against a control group to assess changes in self-compassion, distress tolerance, and emotion regulation. The authors report that the intervention significantly reduced social anxiety while increasing the targeted psychological outcomes.
