The role of interoceptive awareness in social anxiety disorder – results of an internet-based CBT-manualized therapist delivered group-treatment
Overview
This study examines the relationship between interoceptive awareness and social anxiety disorder symptoms following a three-month, therapist-delivered internet-based CBT group intervention. The authors assessed 47 participants using standardized scales for interoception and social anxiety at baseline and post-treatment to evaluate symptom reduction and predictive factors. Results indicated significant improvements in both social anxiety symptoms and specific interoceptive dimensions, with baseline interoceptive traits predicting treatment outcomes.
