Self-help cognitive behavioural therapy for hot flushes and night sweats during androgen deprivation therapy for prostate cancer: the MANCAN2 randomized controlled trial
Overview
This randomized controlled trial evaluates a four-week self-help cognitive behavioral therapy program designed to mitigate hot flushes and night sweats in prostate cancer patients undergoing androgen deprivation therapy. The study compares this intervention, guided by nurse specialists, against treatment as usual across 162 participants. Results indicate that while the CBT group showed short-term improvements in symptom severity, anxiety, depression, and medication compliance at six weeks, these benefits were not sustained at the six-month primary endpoint.
