Dialectical behavior therapy skills use and emotion dysregulation in personality disorders and psychopathy: a community self-report study
Overview
This community self-report study examines the relationships between dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills use, emotion dysregulation, and dysfunctional coping among adults with symptoms of cluster B personality disorders and psychopathy. The authors compare individuals endorsing borderline personality disorder (BPD), other cluster B PDs, and those without such symptoms to determine if DBT constructs apply beyond BPD. Results indicate that while emotion dysregulation is prevalent across cluster B groups, lower DBT skills use was significantly associated only with the BPD group. The resource notes that findings are preliminary due to reliance on self-report data.
