What is the effect of homework engagement in group cognitive behavioral therapy for anxiety disorders and depression?
Overview
This secondary analysis of 164 patients examines how homework engagement influences symptom outcomes in group cognitive behavioral therapy for anxiety and depression. The study compares diagnosis-specific CBT with transdiagnostic Unified Protocol, finding that higher homework engagement was associated with reduced symptoms at the end of treatment and in subsequent weeks. While initial engagement levels varied by treatment type and diagnosis, these differences did not significantly alter overall treatment outcomes. The resource highlights the need for further research on the quality of engagement and other process variables.
