The Use of Modified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy Program for Family Caregivers of People Living with Dementia: A Feasibility Study
Overview
This feasibility study evaluates a modified mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) program for family caregivers of people with dementia. The randomized trial included 57 participants who completed seven face-to-face sessions over more than 16 weeks, assessing outcomes at baseline, post-intervention, and three-month follow-up. Results indicated high feasibility with positive within-group improvements in perceived stress, depressive symptoms, and subjective burden for both groups, while modified MBCT showed a larger effect on stress reduction compared to modified MBSR.
