The Effects of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program on the Mental Health of Family Caregivers: A Randomized Controlled Trial
Overview
This randomized controlled trial evaluates the impact of an 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program on the mental health of family caregivers experiencing significant strain. The study compares outcomes between participants in the MBSR group and a self-help control group, measuring changes in depressive symptoms, anxiety, quality of life, and self-efficacy at baseline, post-intervention, and three-month follow-up. Results indicate that MBSR participants experienced significantly greater reductions in depressive symptoms and increases in mindfulness compared to the control group.
