The Effects of Mindfulness and Self-Compassion on Improving the Capacity to Adapt to Stress Situations in Elderly People Living in the Community
Overview
This study evaluates a 10-session mindfulness and self-compassion program designed to enhance stress adaptation in non-institutionalized elderly adults. The research involved 45 participants randomized into treatment or waiting list groups, with outcomes measured using scales for resilience, coping strategies, anxiety, and depression. Results indicated significant improvements in resilience and positive reappraisal, alongside reductions in anxiety and negative self-focus among the treatment group.
