Improving adherence to an online intervention for low mood by a virtual coach or personalized motivational feedback messages: A three-arm pilot randomized controlled trial
Overview
This pilot randomized controlled trial investigates whether adding automated motivational support, via a virtual coach or personalized messages, improves adherence to an unguided online behavioral activation intervention for low mood. The study compares these supported conditions against a control group with no additional support, measuring outcomes such as engagement metrics, satisfaction, usability, and depression scores. Results indicate that automated support did not significantly enhance adherence or reduce depressive symptoms compared to the control condition.
