Effects of a brief online self-compassion training on perfectionism, self-criticism, and social anxiety: A randomized controlled trial
Overview
This randomized controlled trial compares the effects of a brief, unsupervised online self-compassion training against a generic stress-reduction program in 200 healthy adults. The study measures changes in self-compassion, self-criticism, perfectionism, social anxiety, and psychological health over a two-to-four-week period. Results indicate that while both interventions produced similar improvements in target variables, the self-compassion training showed specific benefits for participants with high initial self-criticism.
