Acceptance, needs and demands of e-mental health interventions in adolescent elite athletes
Overview
This study surveyed 217 adolescent elite athletes to assess their acceptance of e-mental health interventions and identify associated predictors using the UTAUT model. The results indicate moderate overall acceptance, with higher levels observed among female athletes and those in individual sports compared to males and team-sport participants. Key factors influencing acceptance included performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, and gender, while symptoms of depression or anxiety did not significantly predict acceptance. Participants expressed a preference for customizable, smartphone-based programs featuring short 10–20 minute sessions.
