Psychological intervention strategies in college physical education and their impact on students' athletic performance
Overview
This study examines the comparative effectiveness of four psychological interventions—attention training, cognitive restructuring, goal setting, and emotional regulation—on athletic and academic performance among 324 collegiate student-athletes. The authors report that attention training yielded greater performance enhancements than other methods, with notable gender differences in improvements to emotional regulation, resilience, and accuracy. Additionally, the research notes a small regression in some metrics after 12 months but highlights positive long-term maintenance of resilience and anxiety reduction.
