A pilot study on mindfulness based stress reduction for smokers
Overview
This pilot study evaluates the feasibility of adapting Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) as a smoking cessation intervention without pharmacotherapy. It reports on 18 participants who completed eight weekly group sessions, with abstinence measured six weeks after quitting. The findings indicate that meditation compliance was associated with successful abstinence and reduced stress.
