Digital Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Chronic Insomnia in South Korea: Cost-Effectiveness Analysis Using Decision Tree and Markov Modeling Based on a Secondary Analysis of a Randomized Clinical Trial
Overview
This study evaluates the cost-effectiveness of Somzz, a digital cognitive behavioral therapy app for insomnia in South Korea, compared to conventional treatment combining CBT and pharmacotherapy. Using decision tree and Markov modeling based on randomized clinical trial data, the analysis assesses costs and quality-adjusted life years from both healthcare system and societal perspectives. The results indicate that while digital CBT incurs slightly higher direct medical costs, it is cost-saving from a societal viewpoint due to reduced productivity losses and workplace accidents.
