Effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Therapy in Patients With Major Depressive Disorder
Overview
This study compares the effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Therapy (CT) for Iranian women with major depressive disorder. The randomized trial involved 19 outpatients receiving twelve sessions of either ACT or CT, with outcomes measured using standardized depression and acceptance scales. Results indicated significant improvements in depression for both groups, while ACT showed specific advantages in increasing acceptance and reducing dysfunctional attitudes compared to CT.
