Effects of Self-Compassion and Mindfulness Interventions on Mental Health and Work-Related Outcomes Among Japanese Workers: Randomized Controlled Trial
Overview
This randomized controlled trial evaluates a low-intensity, self-guided smartphone app delivering mindfulness or self-compassion meditation to 300 Japanese workers. The study measures changes in psychological distress, work performance, and related secondary outcomes over four weeks compared to a waitlist control. Results indicate high adherence but limited between-group differences, with only preliminary evidence suggesting potential benefits for work performance in the self-compassion group.
