A qualitative analysis of participants’ reflections on body image during participation in a randomized controlled trial of acceptance and commitment therapy
Overview
This qualitative study analyzes written reflections from 47 participants with eating disorders regarding their body image before and after an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy group treatment. The findings indicate that participants held diverse views on the meaning of body image, ranging from self-evaluation to global self-esteem, and described post-treatment shifts toward reduced judgment and a focus on life priorities. The resource is intended for researchers or clinicians interested in patient perspectives on body image within ACT interventions.
