Mindfulness skills in borderline personality disorder patients during dialectical behavior therapy: Preliminary results
Overview
This study examines changes in mindfulness dimensions among 52 borderline personality disorder patients undergoing dialectical behavior therapy over a one-year period. Using the Kentucky Inventory of Mindfulness Skills, researchers found that only 'accepting without judgment' significantly increased and correlated with symptom improvement. The authors suggest this dimension may be a mechanism for positive change but note the preliminary nature of the findings due to the lack of control groups.
