The Effects of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Intervention on Inflammation and Stress Biomarkers: a Randomized Controlled Trial
Overview
This randomized controlled trial examines whether Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) influences inflammation and stress biomarkers in working-age adults with psychological distress and overweight or obesity. Participants were assigned to face-to-face ACT, mobile-based ACT, or a control group, with measurements taken at baseline, post-intervention, and follow-up. The study reports that hsCRP levels decreased significantly in the face-to-face group over time, suggesting potential benefits for low-grade systemic inflammation.
