A Randomized Controlled Trial of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction for Women With Early-Stage Breast Cancer Receiving Radiotherapy
Overview
This randomized controlled trial evaluates the effectiveness of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) compared to nutrition education and usual care for women with early-stage breast cancer undergoing radiotherapy. The study involved 172 participants aged 20 to 65, with follow-up assessments conducted at four months, one year, and two years post-intervention. Results indicated that women receiving MBSR alongside active radiotherapy showed significant improvements in psychosocial variables, including quality of life and coping mechanisms, relative to control groups.
