Effect of mindfulness-based stress reduction on somatic symptoms, distress, mindfulness and spiritual wellbeing in women with breast cancer: Results of a randomized controlled trial
Overview
This randomized controlled trial examines the impact of an eight-week mindfulness-based stress reduction program on somatic symptoms, distress, mindfulness, and spiritual wellbeing in 336 Danish women with breast cancer. The study compares outcomes between the intervention group and usual care at post-intervention, six months, and twelve months follow-up. Results indicate significant reductions in symptom burden and distress for the MBSR group, though the effect on somatic symptoms was not sustained at the twelve-month mark.
