Mediating Effects of Mindfulness Compassion-based Peer Counseling Program for Breast Cancer Survivors: From Mindfulness, Compassion to Others to Depression Reduction
Overview
This randomized controlled trial examines an 8-week mindfulness compassion-based peer counseling program for breast cancer survivors, comparing it to a body-mind-spirit control group. The study investigates whether improvements in depression are mediated by increases in mindfulness, self-compassion, and compassion toward others. Results indicate that the intervention group experienced greater reductions in depressive symptoms and anxiety, alongside enhanced quality of life, relative to the control condition.
