Effects of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy on Body Awareness in Patients with Chronic Pain and Comorbid Depression
Overview
This study examines how Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy affects body awareness in 31 patients with chronic pain and comorbid depression compared to treatment as usual. Using standardized scales, the authors report that the MBCT group showed significantly greater improvements in specific aspects of body awareness, such as self-regulation and not distracting from sensations. The results suggest that these changes may mediate the therapy's positive impact on depression severity.
