A Randomized Controlled Pilot Study on Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Unipolar Depression in Patients With Chronic Pain
Overview
This pilot study investigates mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) for unipolar depression in patients with chronic pain. The randomized controlled trial compared an adapted MBCT intervention against a waitlist control, measuring changes in depressive symptoms using clinician-rated scales. Results indicated significant symptom reduction in the per-protocol sample but no significant differences in the intent-to-treat analysis, with the authors noting the study ended before reaching its projected sample size.
