Metacognitive Therapy Applications in Social Anxiety Disorder: An Exploratory Study of the Individual and Combined Effects of the Attention Training Technique and Situational Attentional Refocusing
Overview
This exploratory study examines the individual and combined effects of Attention Training Technique and Situational Attentional Refocusing on 24 individuals with Social Anxiety Disorder. Participants received both interventions in a cross-over design, resulting in significant reductions in anxiety symptoms after each phase. The resource reports that 46% of participants no longer met diagnostic criteria post-treatment, though order effects favored receiving Situational Attentional Refocusing first.
