A randomized trial of prenatal cognitive behavioral stress management effects on obstetric health outcomes and infant cortisol levels
Overview
This randomized trial evaluates a prenatal cognitive behavioral stress management (CBSM) intervention for low-income, ethnic minority pregnant women. The study examines whether the eight-week group program reduces obstetric health complications and improves infant cortisol regulation compared to a control group. Results indicate that CBSM was associated with fewer maternal complications among those with elevated prenatal cortisol and more regulated infant cortisol patterns in specific subgroups.
