Effects of mindfulness-based stress reduction on distressed (Type D) personality traits: a randomized controlled trial
Overview
This randomized controlled trial investigates whether an 8-week mindfulness-based stress reduction program reduces Type D personality traits, specifically negative affectivity and social inhibition, in a Dutch general population sample. The study compares intervention participants against a waitlist control group to assess changes in these characteristics. Results indicate that while overall caseness did not differ, the intervention group experienced significant reductions in both dimensions, mediated by increased self-reported mindfulness.
