Depression prevention via digital cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia: a randomized controlled trial
Overview
This randomized controlled trial investigates whether digital cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (dCBT-I) can prevent the onset of depression over a one-year period. The study compares outcomes between patients receiving dCBT-I and those in an online sleep education control group, focusing on depression severity and incident rates among those with minimal baseline symptoms. Results indicate that dCBT-I significantly reduced depression severity and halved the rate of moderate-to-severe depression in participants who initially had minimal to no depressive symptoms.
