Effects of a guided digital intervention on sleep and mental health outcomes in university students – a randomized controlled trial
Overview
This randomized controlled trial evaluates a 5-week guided digital cognitive-behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) targeting sleep and circadian rhythms in university students with self-reported insomnia. The study compares the intervention against digital sleep psychoeducation and monitoring, measuring outcomes such as insomnia severity, depression, anxiety, and academic performance at baseline, post-treatment, and follow-up. Results indicate no significant difference between groups for most outcomes, suggesting the guided CBT-I was not superior to psychoeducation alone, potentially due to low adherence or active elements in both conditions.
