Efficacy of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia in Adolescents: A Randomized Controlled Trial with Internet Therapy, Group Therapy and A Waiting List Condition
Overview
This randomized controlled trial evaluates the efficacy of cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBTI) in adolescents, comparing guided internet therapy and group therapy against a waiting list control. The study involved 116 participants aged approximately 15.6 years who received six weekly sessions of CBTI components such as sleep hygiene and stimulus control. Results indicate that both treatment modalities significantly improved objective and subjective sleep measures compared to the waiting list, with benefits maintained at follow-up.
