Enhanced Psychosocial Well-Being Following Participation in a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program Is Associated with Increased Natural Killer Cell Activity
Overview
This pilot study examines the relationship between psychosocial improvements and immune markers in 24 adults completing an eight-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program. The authors report that participants experienced significant reductions in anxiety and distress, alongside improved quality of life, which correlated with decreased C-reactive protein levels. Additionally, those who reported enhanced mental well-being showed increased natural killer cell activity compared to those who did not.
