Towards a physically more active lifestyle based on one’s own values: the results of a randomized controlled trial among physically inactive adults
Overview
This randomized controlled trial evaluates a value-based intervention grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for physically inactive adults aged 30 to 50. The study compares the effects of standard feedback alone versus feedback combined with six group sessions and self-monitoring tools over nine weeks. Results indicate that while both groups increased physical activity, the ACT-integrated group showed greater improvements in exercise-related cognitions and more stable behavior changes among non-depressive participants.
