Staying well during pregnancy and the postpartum: A pilot randomized trial of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy for the prevention of depressive relapse/recurrence.
Overview
This pilot randomized trial evaluates Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Perinatal Depression (MBCT-PD) as a nonpharmacological option for pregnant women with histories of depression. The study compares MBCT-PD to treatment as usual, measuring session completion, satisfaction, and depressive relapse rates through six months postpartum. Results indicate that MBCT-PD was acceptable to participants and associated with significantly lower depressive symptom severity and relapse rates compared to the control group.
