Metabolic profiling reveals potential biomarkers and underlying signaling pathways involved in mindfulness-based cognitive therapy-improved adolescent depression symptoms
Overview
This study investigates metabolic changes associated with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) in adolescents with depression by comparing plasma metabolomics profiles of patients receiving MBCT, conventional treatment, and healthy controls. The research identifies specific upregulated and downregulated metabolites and correlates these shifts with clinical symptom improvements using standard assessment scales. It further proposes a combination of five metabolites as potential biomarkers for predicting the efficacy of MBCT interventions.
