The effects of intensive mindfulness interventions on athletes’ psychological states and cognitive performance: an fNIRS study
Overview
This randomized controlled trial investigates the impact of a 10-day intensive mindfulness intervention on elite badminton athletes' executive function and prefrontal brain activity using fNIRS. The study compares participants receiving mindfulness training against an active control group, measuring changes in task accuracy, reaction time, and neural efficiency indices. Results indicate increased mindfulness scores and specific hemodynamic changes in the right ventrolateral prefrontal cortex under low cognitive load, though no significant behavioral improvements were observed.
